‘Exposes those who are scarED, rattlED, perturbED’: Abhishek Banerjee takes a dig at ED as probe agency summons him on October 3 | India News

NEW DELHI: Trinamool Congress MP Abshishek Banerjee on Thursday took a dig at Enforcement Directorate (ED), accusing the central probe agency of calling him for questioning on days coinciding with his political engagements. The Trinamool leader, who is the nephew of West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee, took to X to inform that he has been called by the ED for questioning on October 3.
A Trinamool delegation including Mamata Banerjee, Abhishek and other leaders plan to meet Union minister for rural development and panchayati raj Giriraj Singh on October 3 to place before him the issue of non-release of longstanding dues under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act. The Trinamool leaders also plan to pay their respects to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat in New Delhi on his birth anniversary on October 2.
With the ED issuing summons for questioning him on October 3, Abhishek claimed that this coinciding of date for the second time in a month has exposed those who are scared and rattled.
“Earlier this month, the ED summoned me on a day coinciding with an important coordinating meeting of #INDIA in Delhi. I dutifully appeared and complied with the served summons,” Abhishek said in a post on X.
“Now, today yet again they have served me another summons to appear before them on a day when the protest agitation for West Bengal’s rightful dues is scheduled in Delhi on 3rd Oct. This stark revelation unequivocally exposes those who are truly perturbED, rattlED and scarED!” the TMC leader added.

Earlier this month, the ED had summoned Abhishek Banerjee on September 13 to appear before the agency for questioning.
The date coincided with the first coordination committee meeting of the opposition bloc ‘INDIA’, of which he was a member.
Abhishek skipped the opposition meeting. However, he targeted Prime Minister Modi in a post on X.
“First meet of INDIA’s coordination committee is on September 13 in Delhi, in which I am a member. But, @dir_ed conveniently served me a notice just now to appear before them on the very same day! One can’t help but marvel at the timidity & vacuousness of the 56-inch chest model,” Abhishek Banerjee then posted on X.

The Enforcement Directorate had conducted raids in the office of ‘Leaps and Bounds Pvt Ltd’ in Kolkata in connection with the West Bengal school jobs scam. The ED has claimed that Banerjee is the chief executive officer of the company.
In June, the TMC leader had declined to appear before the central probe body when it had sent a notice to him in June in connection with the investigation into the money trail in the primary school jobs scam in West Bengal.
He had earlier been summoned by the ED several times in connection with a cattle smuggling case.
